Shaken,but not stirred...

No,I'm not talking about 007(I've seen some, but not all of the films),but rather a rare quake felt in my neck of the woods. It was actually epicentered 120 miles north of Sacro in the rural Sierra Foothills, but I actually felt it for a few seconds(as did my sister and my dad,my mom who was in the garage at the moment, didn't)at the dinner table.I immediately thought of Loma Prieta(some people did feel it in the Sac Valley),and I was fearing it was a another big quake in one of the California's larger metros(since no quake had been strongly felt here since that October 1989 day).I was also hearing about the I-5 bridge failure midway between the Puget Sound metro and the Canadian border and was fearing that it was connected before learning that happened hours before(I remember hearing about the 2001 Puget Sound quake that reminded everyone of the Pacific Northwest's own seismicity.)Now,I'm hearing of an 8.2 quake in far eastern Asian Russia(hundreds of miles north of Hokkaidou)...

Speaking of the metro that we nearly lost the Kings to,if only more transit ran later,I would have gone to the 'Long Live The Kings' rally downtown...

Kappei-sama,happy 48th;and also happy birthday to Shouzou Iiizuka(who turns 80),Youko Asada(who turns 44),and Junko Okada(who turns 40)...
