Somehow,I found the latest Newtype at Oto's video for the first time in a long time(at least a year).Turns out according to one of the video shop clerks,a young lady who actually reads the Japanese Newtype has been always beating me to the punch though she has been too bogged down academically to make it there in recent months.As for the contents of this particular issue,there is a brief section of the new Uchuu Senkan Yamato movie(featuring the voice talents of Kappei-sama and others).Additionally,I've noticed that both seiyuu feature secions("Voice Actor/Actress Spotlight" and Megumi Hayashibara's "Speaking in Character")have been discontinued,while The Official Art Of... has been renamed Creation Archive.As for ongoing series,Before Green Gables is obviously one of the few anime series that would be safer in the hands of Not-4-Kids-or-Adults Entertainment owing to a suspect Japanese voice cast,lapi.They've wisely picked up the similarly-flawed Dinosaur King,so I can't see why they can't pick this up as well,lapi...

When at the main store,I noticed that they've started stocking some varieties of imported Japanese Kit-Kats.Also,I noticed that a certain cute looking clerk that has been there for a year and a half was actually still there(and rang me out).It had been months since I had seen her,and I feared that she was no longer there...

A recent Buy It Now win arrived in my mailbox today:a Sacramento Regional Transit system map from September 1983.It would be a few more years before the first light rail line would open(construction was just about to begin back then);and even 15 years ago,the system was quite a bit different from when that map was published:Some streets no longer have any routes running on them,while on the flip side some not-yet-developed areas lacked service back then.Though I've started using RT to any extent 13 years ago,I remember they used coaches that have been long out of use...

Coming into work yesterday,I was really wondering whether the store would still be functioning normally:The ceiling had sprung several leaks during the monster rainstorm;and one area near the rear was so bad that not only did a number of ceiling tiles have to be removed,but also the affected aisles(liquor and convenience groceries,no less)were partially blocked to through access,though there wasn't much inventory loss if any.There were a lot of plastic totes in a number of aisles to pick up the leakage.By the time the store was vacated for the evening,fortunately,the worst of the storm system had already moved into the Sierra Nevada.Today,it only rained a little in the morning while I was still sleeping in on a day off sorely needed after yesterday's storm headache,but another storefront in an older building on the opposite side of the shopping center from work did suffer a roof failure though all escaped unharmed...

Turns out California's First Lady was caught on camera cell-phoning and driving without a hand's free device.Though it wasn't her actor-turned-politician husband who was caught,Arnold is still hypocritical in a lot of ways...


Turns out a new Uchuu Senkan Yamato movie will be out in time for the holiday season in Japan.Though his role is dissimilar to characters in other animated Leiji Matsumoto works in which he lent his voice to,Kappei-sama is among a decently solid seiyuu cast though only a handful of characters are voiced by josei_seiyuu...

Happy 36th birthday to Yukie Maeda.While playing Puyo Puyo Fever,I could have sworn that Accord was voiced by an old-school seiyuu(i.e.,Yuriko Yamaguchi,Kikuko Inoue,among others)rather than her...

Too bad not-so-Hot Topic doesn't seem to sell as much anime novelties as before...

OTOH,while climate controlled inside Sunrise Mall,NorCal is getting soaked by remnants of the same Typhoon Melor that socked the Tokaidou Megalopolis...

Thanks to a special e-mailing and other in-store offers from Borders,I can catch up all the way to volume 17 of HunterxHunter.So far,25 volumes are available stateside,and 26 is due after the first of next year.Other places such as Barnes and Noble(particularly the one near work)and World's Best Comics seem to only carry newer volumes,but I'm now caught up enough that it's now less of a hazard...

Well,Kappei's small seiyuu management firm now has a fourth seiyuu,but it would be great if his self-founded-and-managed production attracts some josei_seiyuu...

BTW,the clerk who rang me out at the drugstore formerly known as Longs Drugs the other day snuck an Extra Care card and app in my bag.Thankfully he was clueless to who I work for.Hopefully,there are more Walgreens employees who hold Extra Care cards than such card holders who work for Rite Aid.On the flip side,Extra Care is still better than shopping at Sprawl-Mart...

Credit an own goal to my local newspaper for their feature article in the business section spotlighting the entry of CVS/pharmacy into Northern California.I visited both a remodeled/converted former Longs and a newer Rite Aid(both near CSUS)after grabbing HunterxHunter 12 at Borders,and the Rite Aid was far better looking in multiple ways even though I had to grab some stuff they didn't carry at CV Boots anyway(I even found their very last deck of Longs Royale playing cards while there.)...

Which anime "distributor" should have gone bankrupt during the recent epic recession?

At least partly because it occured during that one stretch back in July,I had completely missed the fact that Kappei-sama won the Best Voice Actor(Japanese) honor at the 2009 SPJA Industry Awards(held at Anime Expo 2009)for his role as L in Death Note.Additionally,at that same awards show,Junko Takeuchi won the honor for Best Voice Actress(Japanese) for her still ongoing Naruto Uzumaki role.Though there are rumors that she conveniently avoids such roles anyway,I don't believe her voice is really well-suited for BL even though there just isn't enough such series where otokoyaku josei_seiyuu voice main male characters(even though it is common in mainstream anime and audio dramas)...
